Steps //
- 01 Bring water to a boil, add the somyeon, and cook for 2 minutes 30 seconds to 3 minutes. Cooking tip When foam rises, add a cup of cold water to help prevent it boiling over.
- 02 While the noodles cook, separate the egg yolk and set it aside.
- 03 Mix 4 tbsp soy sauce, 2 tbsp sugar, 2 tbsp sesame oil and 2 tbsp sesame seeds. Add 0.5 tbsp minced garlic if you like, and stir until the sugar dissolves.
- 04 Drain the cooked noodles, rinse several times in cold water, then drain well. Cooking tip Cold rinsing removes starch and gives the noodles a springy texture.
- 05 Toss the noodles evenly with the sauce, top with the yolk, and mix it in before eating. Cooking tip For a tangy version, add 1 tbsp vinegar; for heat, add one finely chopped cheongyang chili.
